Addressing the crisis in women’s health research: an American Gynecological and Obstetrical Society statement

Women and clinicians who care for them all desire to have the best possible outcomes when encountering obstetrical, gynecologic, reproductive, and other healthcare issues. Achieving such results necessitates care that is directed by evidence-based guidelines described from high-quality basic, translational, and clinical research. In 2019, the American Gynecological and Obstetrical Society (AGOS), an organization of academically accomplished elected leaders in obstetrics and gynecology, raised the alarm on the disproportionately low National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding for women’s health research (WHR).
